Overheard on the Airplane

| | Comments (0)

I flew back from Atlanta last night on a very crowded flight. Behind me, two women struck up a conversation. One, a middle-aged black woman on her first trip to New York, asked her neighbor, a middle-aged white woman who lives in New York, which neighborhoods she should visit. After a rundown of Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Chelsea, the Village, we come to this discourse ...
MABW: "What about Harlem?"
MAWW: "Oh, it's interesteting."
MABW: "How is it interesting?"
MAWW: "Well, there's a lot of poverty, so if you like poverty, it's interesting."
