So word has been out for a while that the bottom floor of the sailmaker building on Atlantic Avenue is gearing up to host Brooklyn's first Urban Outfitters--that is if Williamsburg doesn't beat it to the punch (for coverage history see NYObserver, Brooklyn Daily Eagle, BK11201). But I do believe I have the first photo of Urban Outfitters signage. Say what you will about chain stores in the 'hood, but I think Atlantic Avenue is the perfect spot for a chain store like Urban, and I'll be happy to not have to hop on the F when I want to bask in trapeze Ts and oddly shaped sweaters.
Ok, so I'm not the first person to notice Rime on Smith Street (it's been there for at least a month and both Racked and DNR have the details on owner Susan Boyle's Michael K background), but I was so pleased with the street-influenced yet refined selection that I felt I had to post. Among the names: Alife, Penfield, Capital E Levi's and Tom Ford (sunglasses). While it's mostly men's clothes and hard-to-find sneakers--finally, men usually get the shaft on Smith Street--there's a few things for the ladies, and I even spotted a pair of $40 lined winter sneakers, so it's not all bling, bling, bling. Rime's at 157 Smith Street, between Bergen Street and Wycoff Street. Phone: (718) 797-2158.
