No one can deny that Jon G is a peak party hour DJ. If you were the energy dial, it would be somewhere around 11. This week's mix is certainly along those lines. You'll hear some favorites like M.I.A. among others. My own front-runner would have to be "So Fucking Disco" by Pase Rock. Enjoy!

JonG and Carrie White[noise] will be playing at ATP this Thursday with Oliver Dodd and the Black Van Records / Machine Punk crew. Yes, APT is in Manhattan, but most of the DJs on this list are based in Brooklyn.
Jon G is back on ABL:Radio and he's turning up the heat with his ultra-energetic style of electro house and dancey remixes. In this mix, you will hear The Klaxons, The Infants, MSTRKFT, The Futureheads, The Prodigy and much, much more. I think if someone made a dance mix of The The, it would be on here too.
Sorry for the delay getting the podcast out this week, I was up late last night more worried about Crafty than uploading mp3s.

Here we go with Jon's second half of our New Year's ABL:Radio doubleheader. This mix takes a different tack with the likes of Spankrock, MIA/Diplo, The Rapture, and New Young Pony club. No need to go into further details, if you downloaded our other mix this week, you know what to expect from Jon (only the best, of course). Tomorrow I will post a round-up of last year's top mixes. Have a happy New Year!

To kickoff New Year's celebrations, we have two mixes by Jon G for your enjoyment. The first one, "Raccoon City," is available today; the other will be available in the next day or so.
Jon's ultra-energetic mixes seem to be the perfect fit for an ultra-energetic New Year's. So you have our full permission to dance like a maniac and throw your fists in the air as if you've just won the Showcase Showdown on "The Price is Right" when the crystal ball drops.
The second mix will be available on the feed before it's posted to the blog, so subscribe. (And don't forget to vote for the podcast on Digg--let's beat NPR!)
Cheers to a happy new year.

Are you ready? Jon G is back on ABL:Radio and he brings us another one of his famous full-on energetic party mixes containing the likes of MSTRKRFT, Shiny Toy Guns, Brazilian Girls and much, much more. We guarantee your ass won't be glued to the seat after listening for a few minutes.
Originally, this mix was done as one piece split into two parts, explaining the 2 hour run-time. Since we did this as an exchange with Dj Omnidrive from Bologna, Italy, we decided to combine the entire thing so his audience wouldn't miss a single tasty morsel.
Imunderpressure, a frequent commenter on these ABL:Radio posts designed the cover art for this mix. Since I sat on this mix for a few weeks, I decided to give him shot at releasing it first. You should go check out his blog which recently moved to a new address (http://imunderpressure.com/).
If you've enjoyed this mix, Jon G has another waiting on the side that we will release for New Years Eve. Enjoy!

While Crafty and I were off in Maryland last weekend dealing with the remenants of Ernesto, Jon was DJing up a storm of his own over at Savalas Bar in Williamsburg with Carrie White[noise]. From all reports I heard, the crowd took quite well to Jon's set, similar to his previous mix "I Go Out Dancing."
On this episode, you will hear a different selection of ditties than in his previous mixes. The styles are a tad harder, slightly clubbier, and maybe a little more daring with a step or two away from electro-house.
Some time this fall we are interested in throwing an ABL:Radio party depending on the level of interest. If you would like to see this happen, leave a comment on this post or send an email to us here. Also, we're looking for venue suggestions.

Seems the heat wave this week cooked my brain. When I woke up this morning, I came to the shocking revelation that it was Friday, not Thursday. This situation left me scrambling for a Friday mix. Reaching far back into our archive, I found this mix Jon did back '05 after watching The Apple, a very odd musical from 1980 about future NYC clubland in 1994. (You might remember it screened a year or two ago at Hiro.)
A user on IMDB had this to say about The Apple:
A true wonder...this is just a movie you watch in utter amazement. Is it good? No...but it's just the most enjoyable bad/good movie I've seen in a long time. The costumes are incredible (in a good way), the songs are actually not bad, the singing is very good and the huge production numbers are full of energy and color.
Full of energy and color would best describe the dancefloor machine funk Jon selected in this mix. Enjoy!

If the title is any indication, at this very moment Jon is likely struggling to regain consciousness and make it to work by the appointed time. The rest of us, having gone to bed at a reasonable hour like the good little boys and girls we are, can start the party early with this energetic mix. Jon lures the indie kids with his opening tracks and then reminds them that to dance, you really do need some acid-tinged beats and a touch of funk. Expect glimmers of electro and French house and allow yourself to momentarily whisk away all thoughts of the long workday ahead. Enjoy!

This mix marks Jon's first as a Brooklyn resident. He's taken a little inspiration from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and created a mix that creeps into the dark crevices of sound and then explodes to fill the room. It's a hard, fast ride where tech house meets French house: glitchy, tempermental, fashionable, paranoid, a bit daring.
