What better way to celebrate the return of our ABL:Radio podcast than to check out all the podcast related DJs and performances in Brooklyn this weekend?
First off, we have live performances by Brooklyn's own Devin Dirt and Oliver Dodd, a comrade of ours from bygone times in Atlanta.
Black Van emerges from a summer hiatus and infiltrates Monkey Town this Saturday, October 13th to present its latest crusher 'Watch The Feedback' from Nashville-based Oliver Dodd, due out November 27th. Five tracks of electro house laced with 90's rave aurally delivered iron fist velvet glove and guaranteed to do damage. Oliver continues to move crowds and rock dance floors with heavy-hitter DJs Tommie Sunshine, MSTRKRFT, and Justice all currently playing his recent tracks.
Joining Dodd is Black Van label owner Devin Dirt who brings us his first New York performance since being back from a summer long West Coast tour. He'll be previewing tracks from the highly anticipated "Violent Tendencies" EP due out next year. Hosting the night is the illustrious Machine Punk resident Supervixen.
Here's your chance to be a part of the video for "Watch The Feedback" which will be filmed throughout the night beginning at midnight. If you've never been to a Black Van/Machine Punk party, you're in for something gritty.
This week's podcast will feature a recent live performance by Devin Dirt.
Next on the agenda, our weekly Skylab party over at Sputnik will be hosted by founder Dekker and legendary house DJ and producer, Ktel Jenkins.
Sputnik bar has recently undergone a major face lift to make it have a more lounge-like appeal, and less like a rouge coffee shop.
Finally, if that's not enough for you, Parisian cousins Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon descend upon Studio B to play their extraordinary brand of French house. Will this be the monkey wrench thrown into my weekend plans? Who do you choose? These guys are responsible to such favorites as "Music Sounds Better With You," "Intro," "Rubicon," "Vertigo," "Together," "So Much Love To Give" and much more!
Whereever you go, you won't be disappointed.

You might have noticed we posted last week's flyer and promptly took it down. Sputnik Bar booked KRS-ONE and failed to mention that they needed both floors for the event. We're back this week and Dekker, Rich Woods, and Cosmo are at-large and in-charge. Sputnik Bar is located a block from the Classon Ave G stop, just minutes from most parts of Brooklyn, or a cheap car ride away.

While ABL:Radio has been working with Dekker for a while bringing our cadre of DJs to the Skylab party at Sputnik Bar every Thursday, he has been far too busy promoting to draw a mix together of his own-- until now that is. For his sophomore effort on our lovely podcast, he makes a sharp departure from dub and techno and goes straight down an enticing path of electro house, kinetic remixes, and recognizable hits. If you find the results appealing, then come on down to Skylab, we're there almost every Thursday. Drinks are reasonable, bar is chill, and the patrons are mostly enlightened. Enjoy!

Starting tomorrow night, Thursday, February 1st, and continuing every week until they kick us out, come hear ABL:Radio DJs at Sputnik Bar in Clinton Hill. This weeks DJ line up includes Dekker and Unjust.
Over the next few weeks we will be bringing you a series of first-rate DJs and producers new to ABL:Radio. Starting off the chain we have Dekker (Adam Hurwitz), a visual artist by day and mix-master / tunesmith by night. Dekker cut his DJ teeth on the NYC Drum 'n Bass scene in the mid-'90s. His experiences led him to tinker with Logic and Reason on a Mac, producing his own music--you can hear a sample of his stuff in today's mix.
Dekker has assembled a delectable set of dub, dubby-house, and techno including favorites like Shit Robot’s remix of Dondolo’s “Dragon,” a track I’ve been searching for since hearing it on Beats in Space a while back. If you're a fan of Unjust and Adam Smith’s techno mixes, you will definitely enjoy Dekker. And if his mix has you fiending for dubby house, you should also go check out Graham’s mix.
After hearing this mix, you will be clamoring to hear Dekker live. Today is your lucky day, my friend, as he does a monthly party bringing together other visual artists also interested in DJing and music production. Spinart series came about a few years back when Dekker went to an art exhibition of works by Alex Ross and Steve DiBenedetto, who were also DJing the event. Their mutual epiphany spawned Spinart as a showcase for musically savvy New Yorkers to link their music interests with their art. The next Spinart event is on November 2nd at Loreley Lounge in the Lower East Side.
