This shot of the Flatbush American Apparel's mixed-up marquee is via Dope on the Slope, who has a fabulous eye and a great blog! Oh, and happy day after Black Friday--hope those Nintendo Wii bruises are healing.

A new jewelry store opens this weekend in Red Hook: Erie Basin on Van Brunt Street. The fun thing about the store is that owner Russell Whitmore sells antique jewelry from the 1830s to 1940s alongside the newer stuff. According to the press release, there's a good selection of items less than $100. The modern designers are Benedicte, Natalia Brilli, R Jewellery, Philip Crangi and Lee Hale. Sounds like a great place to keep in mind for the upcoming holiday gift-buying season.
You can check out the grand opening this Saturday from 6pm to 9pm at 388 Van Brunt Street.
