I've walked by this one empty lot off of Columbia Street in Carroll Gardens West many times, but it wasn't until last weekend that I noticed the field was covered in tiny bits of broken glass. At sunset, these shards reflect the light and give Brooklyn a rather poetic glow.

The poor F train is taking quite a beating. This morning's F run was spotty with my train taking the 8th Avenue route due to congestion stemming from an early morning Herald Square derailment, but you already knew that.
This afternoon, however, my intrepid friend Lawrence Scaduto snapped these photos of what appears to be smoke coming out of the subway grates at 6th Avenue and 18th Street.
