The resume box has probably been up there forever, but  I just noticed it :)

My go-to brunch spot is Cafe Luluc. It really can't be beat for price, speed and taste. I'm always at odds: omelette or pancakes? And two weeks ago, the staff over there produced a table for 7 in under 10 minutes. But you can't have brunch at Luluc every weekend, so I gave Robin des Bois a go. It is now my number two go-to brunch spot. Twelve dollars and 50 cents gets you brunch (try the baked eggs with ham and cheese), a bloody mary -and- a cup of coffee. I am ashamed to say I have spent that much on a bloody mary alone elsewhere.

Hibino: Japanese Tapas

| | Comments (2)

Jam for Bread , the  coffehouse with music-venue aspirations, never overcame its awful name and cold space. But Hibino, a Japanese small plates and sushi restaurant that's been slowly prepping for opening in the space, sounds promising. One of my favorite places to eat right now is Zenkichi in Williamsburg, and I definitely think a Japanese tapas place would do well in this neighborhood. You can follow the construction of the place on this cute blog.

Monteleone

After months and months (when did Monteleone close for renovation, in the summer?) it appears that the bread and pastries are back.

Miriam

Looks like the Hill Diner's more fancy menu didn't stick with the neighborhood, and now 229 Court Street will be going Mediterranean in the form of Miriam. Here's what Chowhounders have to say about the Park Slope location.

V-Day in Brooklyn

I'm sure there are a million and one Valentine's dinner specials in the neighborhood. Feeling lazy on this chilly Sunday, so I'm only going to tell you about the ones that landed in my inbox:
- Flatbush Farm is doing three courses for $65 each. If I were dining there that night, I'd have (1) mesclun salad with blood oranges, blue cheese, citrus vinagrette, (2) roast pheasant, champagne sour kraut, foie gras sauce, (3) passion fruit tart with mango.
- Schnack is celebrating the holiday with garlic, naturally. There's no choice here, but for $12 (a $5.15 savings over the normal price), you get garlic greens, a garlic single burger, RC Cola pork ribs with a garlic-reduction glaze and garlic mashed potatoes. Also, according to Harry, if you visible kiss your partner at the end, you get a half-priced bread pudding ($2.25). No word on whether you'll have to sprinkle garlic on top. But there is a note that you must be 18 ...
That's actually all the restaurant emails I have for now. Have them? Send them :)
