Carroll Gardens: October 2007 Archives
I was going to write one myself, but Lazy Robots did it better! We'll be sad to see you go, Lido. Oh, and btw, Gothamist, Lido is not in Red Hook!

I noticed this over the weekend, but I figured if Leo's can take years to open, surely I can wait a few days to post about it on my blog. Thankfully, Esthetic/Aesthetic has eliminated my need to actually experience Leo's for myself. Check out the full review. My favorite quote is the opener:
The inside has about as much personality as I was expecting. The decor seems to have been stolen from a mid-size Midwestern city's airport hotel bar.
Although I also appreciate her calling it "Carroll Gardens first frat bar."
Esthetic also explains the weirdness behind the front non-operational doors and the operational side doors. I'm not sure I understand the logic because the side doors seem closer to the school/church than the front doors, and Sparky's operated for years using the front doors, but what do I know.

I went shopping in Park Slope on Saturday as I hadn't been over there in forever and wanted to check out a different shopping scene. Walking 5th Avenue, I was reminded that a lot of stores in Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill also exist in Park Slope: Soula, Flirt, Lucia. And today, I found out that Flight 001, new to Smith Street, will be opened a store on 5th Avenue in November. Brownstone Brooklyn can now travel with ease. (Now how about bringing a Bierkraft to our side of the neighborhood?)
New Flight 001 location:
58 Fifth Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11217

Got tipped off to Mala Yoga (on Court at Amity street) by this Observer article, which details the new studio and potential bad blood from Area Yoga. Having had classes by all three of the teachers, I can definitely recommend them and I'm guessing the new studio will be super popular. Check out the photo renovation shots. Oh, but why must everything be in Cobble Hill and not Carroll Gardens ...
