W'burg Pizza: Is This As Good as It Gets?

One of the fun things about moving to a new neighborhood should be finding your best stand-by pizzeria. Having moved to a 'hood that has a strong Italian history, I didn't think it would be too much of a problem. And yet, after trying some of my neighbor's recommendations--Driggs, Tony's, San Marco, and even Fornino--I haven't found anything that I would order again. The slices above are what's left of my Driggs order, and I'm not sure I can even eat it as a last-resort leftover--it's truly pizza that bring out the kid in me, as in "Mom, I can't eat this unless you cut the crust off." Cardboard would be too vivid a comparison. But I know I've barely scratched the surface of pie options. I've heard Carmine's is good, and maybe that's why the wait's always about an hour for delivery. And then there's always the old-school red sauce restaurants like Cono. Any recommendations?

oooh that looks nasty :(
We have some nice pizza over here in Sydney if you're ever Down Under :D
Are those snausages?
Brick Oven Gallery is my favorite in the neighborhood.
Carmine's is very good and if you pick up, the wait is anywhere from 25-40 minutes. It's my neighborhood favorite. Or just drop by and pick up a slice.
I only eat the deep dish at Tony's. Hate their regular slice.
BOG closed a long time ago. It is now a bar called the Alligator Lounge. That serves free pizza when you buy a drink, but I don't know what kind. Never had it.
Brick Oven Gallery is still open. It's on Havemeyer and North 8th St. And it's delicious!
Alligator Lounge is on Metropolitan Ave.
Agreed on BOG on Havemyer. Quality place.
But yeah,. RIP Galleria, now alligator bar. THAT was the best pizza in all of W'burg as far as I was concerned. Amazing crust, fresh mozz, all around quality. Sad it went away ages ago.
And what, no love for San Marco? Nothing special there but that's old school straightup pizza. I was never amazed, but always satisfied.
Oh, what about Sals, close to San Marco on Lorimer but the other side of Metropolitan. Give it a shot. Decent joint.
i've had good slices from Nina's on Meeker.
I had heard rumors of Brick Oven's close, but that was my favorite when I lived in the neighborhood.
SALS! SALS IS SO GOOD AND GREAT DELIVERY!
TRY THE CHICKEN AND TOMATOE PIZZA!!!!!
NINA'S IS OK TOO, BUT ORDER AHEAD, DONT EAT WHAT THEY HAVE OUT....
I may be biased because my boyfriend is the cook there, and knows his pizza, but Lucky Cat, bar and restaurant, has amazing personal sized pizzas. It's located on Grand between Roebling and Driggs. They also have good paninis.

Brick Oven's phone is disconnected at this moment. Bummer.
The Brick Oven Gallery is alive and well--definitely perplexed about the ill-researched rumors of us closing, but we're open and inviting anyone who thinks the contrary to come and pay us a visit. We're participating in the Dine In Brooklyn 3-course prix fixe menu event this year. The phone number is 917 627 6786. 33 Havemeyer between n.7th and n.8th.
Nice, can't wait to give you a try. Just FYI, your phone number is listed incorrectly all over the web (NYMag, FreeWilliamsburg, UrbanSpoon, Chowhound), which is why people must think you're closed.
