Everything Bagel Now Henry's Bagel & Espresso Bar
The bagel shop on the corner of Union and Henry has been Aroma Bagel and Everything Bagel. The new owners are apparently banking on the addition of the word "espresso bar" to the spot now named Henry's Bagel & Espresso Bar. Bagel dough was being shot out of the bagel maker in back when I walked by this morning, but I didn't have a chance to sample. Anybody been? I found Everything Bagel to be only so-so and I never got the vaguely southwestern decor.

I went to this place for the first time on Tuesday and the first emotion that I felt was the sorrow for another neighborhood loss. This place is terrible. It's trying to be something I don't think we need, a coffee shop. Good god, don't we have enough? All I ever wanted (and will continue to want) is a bagel with tofu cream cheese in the morning. I realize the tofu cream cheese delight is lost on most, if not all, but it was soooooo good and for this vegan it was awfully special to have this rarity so close to home. (Tofutti cream cheese at Naidre's is sadly not special, nor even worth comparing) Anyhow, besides losing the only thing I ever ordered at Aroma and later Everything Bagel, prices have soared and quaintness is lost. My vote is to bring back Aroma with the awfully nice girls that worked there and lose the redundancy of Henry Bagel and Espresso Bar. Seriously, the name says it all and all is too much.
a bagel with jam used to cost a dollar there, now its $1.50. is it because because they added "espresso"? if anything, the bagel prices should go DOWN with the addition of the espresso maker. a coffee drink priced at $3.50 costs about 10 cents to make.
moreover, they painted all the crap that displays the food black, they made all the dudes that work there wear black, they painted the window frames black, meanwhile I'M THE ONE WHO SHOULD BE WEARING BLACK, wearing black to mourn the loss of the bagel shop i ALWAYS went to after i spent the night at my girlfriend's house.
It should be stated the the aforementioned jam was squirted out of a yellow mustard bottle. yellow. mustard. bottle. I had no idea those babies had gotten so expensive.
i didn't think this place was special when it was just everything bagel. now it's just overpriced and awful. can someone please open a decent grocery/bodega here? while you're at it, turn the defunct Royal's Cafe (next to the pizza shop) into something besides vacant real estate. thanks!
This place is pretty disgusting. The food is old and appears to be spoiling RIGHT IN THE DISPLAY CASE and once when I ate there I got ill. Their food prep is strangely visible and unsanitary, no gloves, bad customer service, and I'm left to wonder WHY this is here and full of customers? We are surrounded by Naidre's, Mazzola's, and various bodegas that are ALL much better.
