Say It Ain't So: Little Red Deli

BK11201 has a very disturbing photo up on its site, which we've included above. It is a photo of the Little Red Deli ... shuttered. Perhaps they are on a summer vacation? Renovating? Just checking out the rigidity of their metal gate? We stopped by for croissant breakfast sandwiches before our last beach trip and wolfed down our buttery, cheesey, eggy sandwich out of pure hunger. Had we known it would be our last, we might have savored it just a bit more.

Apparently the owner (who also owned Novo) moved back to China. Too bad since they had the BEST chocolate chip cookies. Not to mention the ham they used for their sandwiches.

oh well. maybe someone will buy it and "keep the tradition alive"?

say it ain't so! i had no greater love than the little red delicatessen. the buttery croissants, the perfect ham/egg/cheeses, the $1.25 cafe au laits ... novo is too cold and without soul to provide even a glimmer of hope. sigh.

Oh yeah, so yummy. And how about the lovely cockroaches on top of the deli counter....must have been a delicacy.

Have you people seen the sign for the pest control in the window?

I wonder how did people eat in there when there were cockroaches and mouse all over the place!! No only that but roaches walking all over the food. Which some of the food have been sitting there for weeks and the owner would say it is fresh!!! Speaking about the owner who would wanted that guy making me a sandwich when he never washed his hands!! JUST GROSS!!!

I guess you people didn't really care how he treated his employees. If I was something treating their employees as bad as he did I would walk out and never come back.

Speaking about how great the sandwiches were and how nice that french guy was, how come he didn't tell customers he was leaving and telling his employees the week before he close!!!

That place was just gross!!! Have you seen the holes in the floor or wall. Roaches walking all over the place. Mouse dropping on the counter or in the cheese case. Bags of candy or chips with mouse bites in them. That place should of been closed down a long time ago.

I guess the customers were just as gross as that french guy!! Eating roaches and mouse droppings.

Yummy!!
