New Eats for Spring

| | Comments (1)

One of the best things about spring is the crop of new restaurants that pop up. First, an update on one we've waiting for awhile: Time Out says Italian restaturant Po is set to open next week and that it'll have the same $50 six-course prix fixe. Further west, Chowhounders have word on a new Cuban place, the rather lamely titled Mucho Gusto, over on Columbia by the BQE entrance (exact address anyone?). Finally, those same folks seem to be buzzing over the three-month old Brooklyn Heights spot, Petite Marche, though admittedly, that neighborhood's lack of great, enduring restaurants tends to stir up a whole lot of extra optimism.

Just had lunch there and it was great! I grew up in a latin neighborhood and haven't eaten this well since I was a kid. the food is very fresh and for latin food (which can be heavy if not cooked with care) was super tasty and lite. great service and vibe. super friendly owners that added more rice & beans to our doggie bag. oh yeah, portions are plentiful. We talked to the owner and she mentioned that they tried out a few chefs before whole heartedly deciding on the one that cooked for us. Highly recommended. If you are looking for authentic latin/dominican food this is it. If you are looking for trendy cuban food that is so nouveau that it lost it flavor try something else.
