New Favorite Brunch: Robin des Bois
My go-to brunch spot is Cafe Luluc. It really can't be beat for price, speed and taste. I'm always at odds: omelette or pancakes? And two weeks ago, the staff over there produced a table for 7 in under 10 minutes. But you can't have brunch at Luluc every weekend, so I gave Robin des Bois a go. It is now my number two go-to brunch spot. Twelve dollars and 50 cents gets you brunch (try the baked eggs with ham and cheese), a bloody mary -and- a cup of coffee. I am ashamed to say I have spent that much on a bloody mary alone elsewhere.

I love it when the bloody mary or mimosa's included! That looks like a good place. I wish we had more brunch places w/in walking distance in my neighborhood.
Robin des Bois is a great brunch choice. And when it's warm out the backyard garden can't be beat. Romantic too.
Love both places for dinner.
Brunch for us usually entails ordering bagels & veg cream cheese for delivery.
:)
When the weather warms up, the Red Hook ballfields are my favorite Brooklyn brunch. Cafe Luluc is way up there, though.
Do you guys have any thoughts on Le Petit Cafe? That's over in your neck of Carroll Gardens, isn't it?
I may have to make Le Petit Cafe a whole other post, but for now, I will say I love the huevos rancheros--if only they'd use corn, instead of flour tortillas.
nothing is worse than a soggy flour tortilla.
I really don't get why Le Petit gets so much brunch praise! A more reliable bet can be found further down Court (neart Huntington). Scaramouche- the Argentine bakery known for their delightful cakes and pastries. Their brunch is also fresh and thoughtful. And well-priced. The atmosphere is a bit nursing home-ish but perfect for those days when you don't want to deal with a clamorous crowd... or when Grandma is in town. They have an afternoon tea too, if that's your thing.
You're right about the nursing home vibe at Scaramouche
Scaramouche once refused to let me pay for my pastry with a $20, insisting that I scrounge around my bag to find enough change. Never been back.
I love the people at Scaramouche; they're always incredibly friendly and accomodating. The $20 situation must have been an aberration. They also have seriously good breakfast, brunch, and dessert. Le Petit Cafe is good, but gets crowded fairly quickly. And me? I prefer flour tortillas to corn anyway.
