Red Hook Soap Shop

Redhooksoapshop

In my weekend Red Hook excursion I came across the soap store Saipua on Van Brunt Street (right near the new wine bar and cafe Tini and the new jewelry store Erie Basin). The super cute olive-oil based soap store has some great smelling "flavors"--my two favorites were coffee mint and peppermint pumice. According to the store's website, the family-owned company is based out of the Hudson Valley and has been running since 1999. One more reason to trek over or under the BQE.

Oooh... coffee mint? That sounds lovely. I may need to make a trip this weekend.

i always wonder about these little precious soap shops. there's a teeny one on Grand St. in Williamsburg (between Marcy and Havemayer). Everything is made right there behind the counter, and the two women who run it will press soap samples into your hand before you can say hello.
