Idiotarod 2007
I was going to write up a witty little post urging you to brave tomorrow's wintry weather and check out the 2007 Idiotarod, brought to you by the Carts of Brooklyn Racing Association. Then I realized that it's Friday, and I have a lot of things to do today before 5 pm. So just trust me on this one--watching creatively costumed teams with chopped shopping carts race around the city is good, clean, Saturday fun. They route used to begin down by the Brooklyn Bridge, but this year begins in Williamsburg and ends in Long Island City. If you haven't seen a team of pirates go cart to cart with skeletons, well, you're missing out.
Start: 1.30 pm, McCarren Park, southwest corner (across from the Automotive High School). Make sure to check the website before you go for any changes in start venue.
Afterparty: whenever?, 21-03 44th Ave, Long Island City, Queens NY (corner of 21st Street)
with live music and burlesque, plus the awarding show for Best In Show, Best Sabotage, Most Points, Drag Racing, 4th, 5th, 6th, and Last places, and more ...

Do check the locationbefore you go... we went to W'burg last year to watch it, and well, no one was there! The location had changed. We (along with some other curious fans) were quite disappointed.

i was there, my team came in 4th, which in brooklyn cart racing means you get the golden 40 oz. trophy (no prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd). best day ever. here's a video of me dancing with cows (i'm the idiot on the left).
