ABL:Radio - Coherent Resonance - Mixed by Dekker
Over the next few weeks we will be bringing you a series of first-rate DJs and producers new to ABL:Radio. Starting off the chain we have Dekker (Adam Hurwitz), a visual artist by day and mix-master / tunesmith by night. Dekker cut his DJ teeth on the NYC Drum 'n Bass scene in the mid-'90s. His experiences led him to tinker with Logic and Reason on a Mac, producing his own music--you can hear a sample of his stuff in today's mix.
Dekker has assembled a delectable set of dub, dubby-house, and techno including favorites like Shit Robot’s remix of Dondolo’s “Dragon,” a track I’ve been searching for since hearing it on Beats in Space a while back. If you're a fan of Unjust and Adam Smith’s techno mixes, you will definitely enjoy Dekker. And if his mix has you fiending for dubby house, you should also go check out Graham’s mix.
After hearing this mix, you will be clamoring to hear Dekker live. Today is your lucky day, my friend, as he does a monthly party bringing together other visual artists also interested in DJing and music production. Spinart series came about a few years back when Dekker went to an art exhibition of works by Alex Ross and Steve DiBenedetto, who were also DJing the event. Their mutual epiphany spawned Spinart as a showcase for musically savvy New Yorkers to link their music interests with their art. The next Spinart event is on November 2nd at Loreley Lounge in the Lower East Side.
