A Po Comes to Brooklyn?
Two friends were dining at Po on Cornelia Street and saw a sign in the kitchen saying something about them opening up a Po at 276 Smith Street. (Don't you love the effort they go to pass on a Brooklyn tip?)

Speaking of Brooklyn Tip: Guy grows up in the 'hood. After 38 years, leaves the 'hood for the West. Guy comes back to the 'hood for lunch. What is the best spot that had openned in the last 2 years (that serves lunch)?
Po, really? So Batali's sausage fingers have found their way to Brooklyn (if indirectly).
The old Smitty's location under construction at 276 Smith Street is Po Brooklyn according to the sign in the window as of yesterday.
Wdegraw, that is a hard question--lunch, lunch ... why lunch? I guess I'd choose Brooklyn Fish Camp in Park Slope, Frankie's on our side of the neighborhood (wine with lunch is always lovely) or Ferdinando's Focacceria on the west side of C.G. (although I've never been, I've always wanted to and heard it's open for lunch more often than for dinner). Why not stay for dinner and then you can try Petit Crevette?
I have to say, in my Brooklyn neighborhood (which is Cobble Hill) so many places serve brunch on the weekends, but not lunch... you can't order off their regular lunch menu and get things like burgers, sandwiches, salads... only eggs and pancakes type of things (There are, of course, a few exceptions) Hill Restaurant, Gravy, I'm talkin to you. Why can't I get a sandwich at 3 PM for pete's sake?!
Po isn't owned by Batali--that's a popular misconception. Po is owned by Steve something-or-other that owns Daddy O in the w. Village. Tater tots!
Batali sold his interest in Po years ago to Steve Crane, his then partner and former owner of Daddy-O on Bedford/Leroy. Daddy-O is now owned by one of Steve's former bartenders - Phil. I haven't eaten at PO since MB left but I'm sure the menu is still top notch. It will be a welcome addition to Brooklyn.
