Subway Reads
Perhaps it was the unseasonably cool weather. Perhaps it was the luxury of a brain-dead August beginning. Perhaps, well, perhaps I just didn't pay very close attention. the larson book is crappy, overwrought and ramshackle. for more on chicago's 1893 world's fair, a better book is the novel "the white city," though it veers from the historical record. best of all: the parts about the 1893 in the new pynchon novel.
