A Brooklyn Beat: The Warriors

I don't suppose I need to tell anyone how great a movie The Warriors is. I only recently saw it, and was immediately kicking myself for not having friends with cooler slumber parties when I was twelve. (Somebody always rented Porky's...sigh.) It's a ridiculous movie, fueled by the kind of New York paranoia that must've seemed kind of silly even in '79. But in this age where the bullies of our lives are Dunkin' Donuts and Dubya, there's something comforting about it. If only we had a sultry voiced, cherry-lipped DJ narrating. Anyway, it's the perfect final film for the outdoor Brooklyn Bridge film series, and I really hope some Dumbo-themed gangs rep the hood...the Strollers?

Let's get down to it boppers.

I love that movie. I had a friend back in Springfield, IL, whose mom didn't care what she watched, so we watched it during a sleepover when I was like 11. I haven't seen it recently, but since I've moved to NYC, I really would like to watch it from an adult/transplant perspective.
