Look at the Size of That Iced Tea!
Being as I spent about six years of my life in the South, there are a few things I appreciate about that region of the country, and a few things the North could note. One of them is the size of the glasses in which one's iced tea or coke is served (it's all coke, by the way). Did I mention that refills are free? This particular monster of an iced tea was served at Mellow Mushroom in Destin, Fla. (Fun fact: I worked at a Mellow Mushroom in Alpharetta, Ga., during the summer of 1998--don't you feel like you know me better now?)

sweet tea! it's sweet tea!
Next to a tasty Sweetwater 420 Ale
Actually the "its all coke" comment is somewhat inaccurate. While this may be true in more rural areas of the south (as it is in the north for the words "soda" or "pop"), I have found that in practice in urban areas it is more common to just use the brand name. For example, I generally order a diet coke and am generally asked if diet pepsi is ok when they don't have diet coke. I have never in my life actually ordered a coke and gotten something like a sprite and I lived in the south most of that period.
Well then you've definitely never been to Texas!
I can't believe you brought this up! I used to go to the Mellow Mushroom in Charlottesville, VA while in school there and would always leave in a caffiene-induced hazed. I would seriously drink like 120oz of soda without even realizing it at that place. Thanks for the memories.
in TX it's all coke; in PA it's all pop. and in GA it's all oversized so who gives a shit what it's called, the wondrous abundance is all that matters.
"What kind of coke do you want?"
"Sprite."
Ahaha I miss me some North Carolina.
naw, I wanted an RC Coke
No free refills up North? What?!? As someone who's planning a move to New York next year, this troubles me. Here in Atlanta, Coke means Coke. Serve someone a Pepsi without asking and you're likely to get hit. And you haven't had a true fountain Coke until you've had one at the Varsity. Best fountain Coke ever.
