Breaking: Ghang Thai Kitchen Serves Thai Food

Ghanthai

Yep, the space that formerly was Tuk Tuk Thai is poised to become Ghang Thai Kitchen, which will, in case you were wondering, be serving Thai food. In other Smith Street restaurant news, we'd like to solicit some commentary for restaurants that are semi-newly opened that ABL hasn't been to yet, they include ...

Dunkin' Donuts (just kidding!)
Ki Sushi 122 Smith Street
Coco Roco 139 Smith Street
Pane e Vino 174 Smith Street

Pane E Vino,

awesome.

Great interior , and great food.

Other restaurants in the neighborhood try very hard to be different and fresh, and fail. Pane E vino, gets it right.

Now that we've got another Thai place, all we need is a few more dry cleaners and we'll be in good shape.

a few more banks and another pharmacy...

The folks at Pane E Vino are really nice, but it's just not a great restaurant IMO. I still go there for the wine and the bossa nova I hear occasionally.

Anyhow, we keep laughing at the Tuk Tuk sign because they ServeD Thai Food. We wonder where, and if having Thai Kitchen in their name implies they might strike again!

Including all the other great suggestions, I'd love to see another overpriced unisex clothing stores catering to the bay ridge kids!

Pane E Vino--food was OK (but not great), and the backyard space is nice, but the service was horrible...seems like it's getting harder and harder to find new Smith St spots that live up to the tried and true...

It looks from that poster like they "served" Thai food. Strange.

Let's hope they cleaned up the Tuk-Tuk space

That space might be haunted or something.

Let's see... it was that tea place. Then the sushi place. Then another thai place (right?). Then Tuk-Tuk.

I haven't been to Faan in years, but I have always wondered if being close to Faan and Faan being so popular is a bad thing... Tuk-Tuk. The Wasabi/Mexican place. The italian place on the other corner (where I had one of the most single worst meals ever (our meals came out at 10-15 minute intervals)).

Does Faan's attention drown out it's neighbors?

We tried Ki Sushi last night.

Thumbs up.

We didn't try the rolls but all the sushi and sashimi that we had was excellent (the rolls, from the descriptions, seemed delicious though).

Multiple grades of almost every fish. Actual wine list. Cool space. Decent enough service - although our server didn't seem to know a lot of specifics in terms of how much food came with the sushi/sashimi dinners.

I have lots of friends who are fans of Cube 63 (a place I think is hit+miss) and Ki is a whole step up from Cube in quality and variety – let's hope they keep it up.

Prices are about the same as Cube63, which I have always thought were too high to begin with.

viva tasty fish!

Pane e vino may not have jaw dropping dinners, but their BRUNCH is the best deal in town IMO. $9.99 gets you a baset of warm bread, a yummy coffee, mimosa or bloody mary (take the mimosa), and one of around a dozen breakfast options. And if you eat it all in their sun-roofed back garden, it's really delightful. Makes you feel you're in Italy.
