A Brooklyn Beat: Yo La Tengo, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Siren Music Festival

| | Comments (0)

Wandenchi_334_1 Oodles of good music this weekend that won't cost you more than a few bucks. In what's fast becoming the annual highlight of Celebrate Brooklyn, Yo La Tengo play their dreamy, surfy, crunchy mix, and, as an added bonus this year, they're playing along to short documentaries about underwater life from Jean Painlevé. Somewhere Wes Anderson is having an adorable little hissy fit. Also at the bandshell, on Friday, is the Brooklyn Philharmonic doing stuff from the likes of Bernstein, Copland and Stravinsky. Now, personally, I'm not a big classical nut, but when I am in the mood, I want it under the stars with Two Boots pizza and wine smuggled in over a fence. Finally, Saturday brings the Siren Fest at Coney Island. There's some good (Stars), some average (Stills), and a whole lot I've never heard of. Mostly, it'll just be fun to watch out for Anderson Cooper during the Scissor Sisters set.
