Mermaid Parade
ABrooklynLife was put off by the torrential rain that started just as we made our way to the subway and aborted our Coney Island Mermaid Parade plans. Our friend at NewYorkette also skipped the parade, but she did snap this amusing photo of a New Yorker-reading mermaid on her way to the festivities (thanks for letting us use this cool photo).
I'm sure many will follow, but Gowanus Lounge snapped some good shots of the mermaids and mermen.

Awww... you should have come. The rain held off until the very end, and the cooler weather and reduced crowds actually made a more fun parade experience than usual. Oh, and then there was "Thriller". Probably one of the coolest mermaid acts I've ever seen.
Here's my gallery of over 140 pics from 2006 and tons from past years as well.

Here are 263 pictures of the parade that I selected for my web site. They came out really good this year. My new camera with external flash helped a lot.

Also I have pictures from the prior two years for comparison.
