Half A$$ Rock Star DJ Night This Wednesday
Here's betting that Half A$$ Rock Star DJ night at Abilene on Wednesday will be just as charming as its first two incarnations.
Our friend and ipod DJ Adam will be mixing up the new and old, rock and funk, maybe even slip in a few electronic-leaning tunes, from 9 p.m. to about midnight. Come show some love for ABL.
If you haven't been, Abilene's a cool little bar. If you have, you already know this, and you should come for a cool little night.

Adam is a vinyl on techniques SL-1200s type DJ, but Abilene has a no "Boom, boom, boom" music policy. My tastes go far beyond 4/4 and break beats so that is fine for me. Though It's a shame the bar patrons miss out on a wide selection of tunes.
Abilene is bound to go off that much harder now that Lillie, formerly of Lillies, is working there! Luv ya!
I think Abilene has some nice things going for it. It's got some chill decor, mellow vibe. But the serice there is a bit holier-than-thou. They can defnitely give off an unfriendly vibe to those they don't find hipster enough. I'm not looking to be judged when I have a quick drink in the hood. If I wanted 'tude, I'd go to Manhattan.
I've actually found the service to be very friendly and I wouldn't consider myself a hipster either.
My husband and I have never experienced anything but friendly, attentive service - and we are so very far from hipsters.
How sincere could his apology have been, really? Shortly after the so-called apology, Torain proclaimed himself the new Lenny Bruce. I wonder how long it will be before he releases a book about the whole mess, apologetic redemption included. It's mind boggling to even imagine why Torain would think launching an on-air attack of an innocent child would win him any kind of respect from even the worst of us. Man, I hope he doesn't get imprisoned. If he does, Torain may have to change he alias from DJ Star to BJ Star. And you know there is just some big dude or two pumped and ready to do to him what he threatened to do to the little girl. On second thought, perhaps such a shamming would be part of a fitting punishment for him.
