ABL:Radio - Macho Machine - Mixed by Bethany

| | Comments (6)

Bethany_maymixPut on those platforms you've been saving for a special occasion and reapply your glitter lip gloss. DJ Bethany Benzur, who also runs ATLectro, has unearthed some disco and italo goodies that'll help you dance your way to a fabulous Friday even if the gloomy weather says otherwise. If you're a fan of Bethany's mixes, you'll enjoy what I'd like to call that "classic Bethany sound."

A horoscope for all those Taurus birthdays:
Change is on the horizon. After a week of your lover's passive-aggressive moaning, you're starting to see things in a different light. Does that mean the relationship is fixed? No, but it does mean that you're going to have a lot of fun tonight. As for all those work worries, like how will you get through the day after having been out until 4 a.m., may we suggest a little stereophonic pick-me-up.

I was out at the Clone records (Alden Tyrell,Serge, and Dexter) show last night. Bethany was definitely there in spirit with rest of us robots. Thanks B, Loving the the mix!

I read recently that Sylvester's "Do You Wanna Funk" was written while he was dying of AIDS in the hospital. That from Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, anyway.

Happy Friday everybody!

brian, you may be thinking of Patrick Cowley? I think Sylvester lived for a few more yeas after that record.

Wikipedia says:

Sylvester died of complications from AIDS on December 16, 1988. His good friend Jeanie Tracy took care of Sylvester during his last days.

He was recording it with Patrick Cowley, either just before Patrick Cowley died or was very sick during.

Makes the music even more immense for me.
