Soft Opening for Abilene
We have it on good authority that Abilene at 444 Court Street will have a soft opening tonight (Friday). There's been much discussion around if and when the bar (formerly the Red Room and several other things) would open, and ABrooklynLife is quite excited about the prospect of a new neighborhood drinkery. So cheers to another area watering hole--we're eagerly waiting the reports!

I saw the sign last night! Cheers to opening night. Hopefully this one works out.
I hope they have fixed the bathroom problems. Plumbing has always been an issue at that bar.
Red Room? That was Henneseys or however you spell it even earlier. When Sparkys was too far to go to, it was the most comfortable bar in the area, back when Smith St. had no bars.
We just stopped by there. They've done an excellent job fixing the place up. They hae Six-Points Pilsner and Blue Point Toasted Lager on draft.
Checked it out on Saturday night- relaxed vibe, a set-up condusive to lounging and conversation, and a good-sized crowd especially considering that they've just opened. Very cool Brooklyn design (looks like the kind if bar Zipper or one of those fancy home stores would open if they had a bar). So far, a million times better than what was there previously.
