New Store Alert: Debbie Fisher
You know the neighborhood is blowing up when stores start moving from Smith Street to Court Street below the Carroll Street stop. Debbie Fisher, who makes beautiful jewelry that seems to glow with both a touch of romance and flirty fun, is moving to 461 Court Street. She usually stocks other local designers' wares, as well, with the same aesthetic. A wonderful place to shop for gifts, either for yourself or someone else. Though I don't think it's open yet, the gates were up the other day, and I got a cute shot of the window display.

Oh GAWD! Another store for the "hipsters"! There goes the neighborhood.
Better hipsters than helicopters- WTF was happening this morning?
I don't know but it felt like they hovered for about an hour or so directly above our apartment! A bit unnerving.
The helicopters, a car alarm and a marching band (!) woke me up this morning (over on Union). When I hear the helicopters hovering I usually assume it's either trouble on the BQE.
Marching band! Ha! There should be some sort of law against that.. At our old apartment, directly across from the BQE, I remember when they were jackhammering at night for like a week.
For a week? Try for months--or at least it seemed like months at the time. I could never actually figure out what they were improving on the BQE, probably just keeping it a few months away from total collapse ;)
That end of Court Street started going hipster when Frankie's opened and Russell Crowe started dining at Le Petit.
Dennis, you are starting to sound like a self-loathing hipster! A pair of Dockers and some sensible shoes can't be too far behind for you, my friend.
Maybe I need a belt full of beepers, cellphones, and PDAs.. that would make me more of a NJ or LI IT geek then.. I guess..
AREA Baby is expanding into the old Debbie Fisher store. Our other locations will remain open, but now we will have more room to bring Smith St. things for babies & kids. Look forward to Bugaboo strollers, Oeuf Modern Cribs, shoes & ofcourse handmade animals, plus more fun things. We also have a huge Area Yoga & Baby opening this week at 5th ave. and bergen in Park Slope. Visit us at www.areabrooklyn.com or come in to one of our locations. Thanks!
