Celeb Sighting

| | Comments (0)

I saw a celebrity today--all by myself. To understand my excitement, you have to know that even thought I've been living in New York for 16 months (and having worked in the celebrity-strewn West Village/ Meatpacking District for 12 of those months), I've never seen a celebrity without the prodding of a companion. For some reason, I have no eye for spotting famous people. But today, walking down 72nd Street towards Central Park West, I saw a rather self-assured black woman step out of a shiny black sedan. She was wearing a long black coat, under which was some sort of black cape or something that fluttered below the coat. She had auburn colored teased hair, and without even seeing her face, I thought, this could be Whoopi Goldberg, and it was! I realize a Whoopi Goldberg sighting is about as exciting as watching Hollywood Squares, but still, it was a good feeling having recognized a celeb all by my lonesome.
